Vetlife announces Active October campaign for 2023

The campaign (previously called the Veterinary Month of Movement) aims to encourage the veterinary community to come together, get active and fundraise for Vetlife during the month of October. Participants can choose to take part either as an individual, or in a team.

Why get involved?

Vetlife is a charity which provides support to the veterinary community, through its Helpline, Health Support, and Financial Support services.

The cost of running Vetlife services is forecast to exceed the £1million mark for the first time in its history.  Vetlife relies heavily on donations from fundraisers. Every donation contributes to the vital expenditure needed to meet the significant rise in demand for charity services.

How to take part in Active October

Firstly, decide on a goal to set yourself or your team. For example, this could be an overall distance, a total step count, or simply to be active each day. Then, create a fundraising page through JustGiving, so you can share the link and spread the word about your event. Be sure to tag Vetlife on social media in any pictures!

Whether you take part by walking, running, cycling, swimming, kayaking, rock-climbing, or horse-riding, there are so many ways to join in and get active.

Vetlife Communications Officer Eve Ritchie said: “The links between physical activity and mental health are well documented. Active October, is the perfect opportunity to get your friends and colleagues together to boost your wellbeing and raise some much-needed funds for our charity.”

You can purchase running vests and t-shirts from Vetlife through their website . If you have any questions about fundraising for Vetlife, get in touch with [email protected].
