Dartmoor in a day: 50km challenge for Vetlife

Kay Watson-Bray, CEO of the BVRA, and Michelle Gratton, Vetlife Donor Relations Manager, are gearing up for an ultra-trail event to raise funds for Vetlife. The duo will embark on a gruelling 50km hike across Dartmoor, braving boggy terrain and steep ascents, with the goal of raising £2,500 to support the veterinary community.

This challenge isn’t for the faint hearted! Michelle and Kay will have to navigate across rugged moorland, climb granite tors, cross rivers and some of Dartmoor’s notorious mires and peat bogs.  Dartmoor’s weather is unpredictable and can be sunny one minute and thick fog the next making navigating all the more tricky.

Michelle Gratton highlighted the urgency of fundraising for Vetlife:

“The Vetlife Helpline is busier than ever, handling an average of 11 contacts per day from people seeking support. I’m taking on this challenge to help ensure that Vetlife can continue providing vital assistance through its three key services: Helpline, Health Support, and Financial Support.”

Kay Watson-Bray reflected on her motivation:

“After participating in Active October last year for Vetlife, I felt inspired to do more. This 50km challenge is a way for me to contribute further and support the incredible work Vetlife does. I also want to raise awareness that Vetlife is there to support all the veterinary team.”
