Vetlife has reported its busiest year in its history, with demand increasing significantly across all its services in 2025.
The Vetlife Helpline, which provides 24/7 confidential support to everyone in the veterinary profession, handled 6,481 contacts in 2025, representing a 27% increase on 2024. This equates to an average of almost 18 people per day reaching out for support. Of these contacts, 67% were made by email and 33% by phone, reflecting evolving preferences in how individuals seek help.
Vetlife’s Financial Support service also experienced its busiest year to date, responding to 96 applications for financial assistance, underlining the continued financial pressures faced by vets, RVNs and their families.
Vetlife’s Health Support service received 233 referrals in 2025, a 29% increase on the previous year, demonstrating the growing demand for mental health support across the veterinary professions. The award-winning service provides specialist mental health care to those in the veterinary community who need support. In addition to supporting more individuals, they are typically remaining in the service for longer, further increasing overall demand.
Essential Support Services
Head of Operations Joanne Driver commented on the continued growth in demand:
“Behind every call, email or referral is a colleague or family member who needs support. Our volunteers are committed to being there whenever someone reaches out, and the scale of demand we are seeing shows just how vital Vetlife has become to members of veterinary teams and their families.”
Support Vetlife – Just £1 Can Make a Difference
To help sustain these essential services, Vetlife is encouraging members of the veterinary community to consider regular giving, with donations of just £1 per month helping to ensure continued support for those in need.
Vetlife President James Russell emphasised the importance of ongoing support:
“Regular donations are vital in helping us plan for the future and respond to rising demand. By giving consistently, supporters help us ensure that the most vulnerable in our community always have access to the help they need. A small amount makes a huge difference when we join together and give as a community.”
